History of TKS
History of The King’s School Robin Hills
You have, no doubt, read of the many miracles God did for His people in the Old and New Testaments. Well… it is exciting to tell you that since 1983 God has performed miracles as our school has been built and developed.
The idea for a Christian School based on Biblical principles and teaching godly character began as a dream in the hearts of Pastors Ron and Ann Robinson. They visited schools overseas who were acting in obedience to Deuteronomy 6. Here the Lord instructs parents to train their children in His ways. Our school is a tool to help parents carry out their God-given role.
Celebrating
of Christian Education
In January 1983 the Pre-school opened with 6 children in attendance at Ron and Ann’s home. Our first School Heads were husband and wife team, Ashton and Grace Sparrow. In January 1984, The King’s School opened with 30 learners.
On 10 April 1984 the 7 beautiful acres at Robin Hills were agreed upon as being just right for church and school activities. R280 000 to purchase the land was a lot of money however! God led those involved to tithe their possessions and income to meet the R520 000 needed to build phase one. PLEDGES GIVEN ONE SUNDAY MORNING MIRACULOUSLY CAME TO THIS AMOUNT! People sold houses, jewellery, insurance policies and possessions to meet these pledges. In August 1985 building began! Early in 1986 an excited school family of 120 learners relocated to Robin Hills. Many other Christian schools were birthed over the next few years in South Africa. The King’s School continued to grow in numbers and buildings were extended to accommodate high school learners.
In June of 1993 Mr Anthony Selby was appointed as the principal. A year and a half later, a new primary school block was built to accommodate more learners. New Creation Family Church and The King’s School leadership felt led by God to build an auditorium. At that time the school assemblies and church meetings took place in a huge tent. The vision was shared with parents and church members and miraculously 1 million rand was released. 1997 was a year of building, mud, noise, growth and more learners! The auditorium was dedicated to God towards the end of 1997. Since then the high school and primary school have been expanded.
Our school is currently in the caring hands of Mr Michael Marais who, along with our school principals; Mrs Gerda Buys (High School), Mrs Pat Fanner (Primary School) and Mrs Jill van der Walt (Pre-Primary School) is working to equip all in our school to serve the Kingdom of God effectively.
All glory to God!
